1212 – Power, Love And Self-Discipline | TBS Devotions

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

~ 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

Did you know that God gives the Spirit?  The Spirit that God gives us does not make us timid, but it gives us power, love and self-control.  What an amazing truth to hold on!  Especially if you are too shy to express your ideas or if you have some kind of insecurity.

The Bible reveals your power through the work of the Spirit of the God living in you.  So, do yourself a favor.  Do not try to overcome your challenge using your own strength.  It might work for a little while but it will reach it limits and you might be discouraged.  Instead proclaim the Word of God over your situation and be empowered by His Spirit so you can experience divine strength and be equipped by the God of all creation.

His Spirit gives you the Agape Love.  It’s the kind of love that is unconditional.  It can help you love your parents, your siblings, your friends unconditionally. It can overflow from within you. Make time to fellowship with God and ask Him to fill you up with His Holy Spirit.

His Spirit, can develop in you a virtue call self-control.  When you are tempted to play on your phone or any other device for hours. When you can’t control your desire to just entertain yourself endlessly, knowing that there are many others things you should be doing.  Received the Spirit of God and learn the art of self-control.

It will save you from unnecessary waste of your time and energy.  It will enable you to be effective and productive throughout the day.  Where the Spirit is, there is liberty.  You are no more addicted to the gods of this world. You are led by the one True God who created you for a real purpose: to see you growing to be a man or a woman after His heart.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank you for setting me freeze from the bondage of sin.  Today I will walk by your spirit.  I will not be moved by any challenges but I will overcome, because I trust in Your Word and in the power of Your Spirit living in me.
