CG Discussion Questions:

1. Explain how the shedding of blood for sin first started in the Garden of Eden. What can you see about the atonement of sin from the offerings made by Abel, Noah after the flood, and Abraham with the ram to substitute his son Isaac?
(Genesis 3:21; Genesis 8:20-21; Genesis 22:13-14; Exodus 12:13)

2. How does the application of blood on the doorpost of the house during the Passover in Egypt and Moses’ offering on Mt Sinai with the sprinkle of blood on the people show you about sin and the need of a life substitute? Discuss how the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) with annual animal sacrifice for the individual and the nation, also the work of the High Priest as representative before God point forward to the substitutionary work of Christ for our sins.
(Exodus 12:13; Exodus 24:5-8; Leviticus 1:1-4; Leviticus 23:27)

3. Discuss how the blood offering timeline foreshadowed the work of Jesus Christ and what is made different by Christ’s blood compared to the prior blood offering. How does Jesus’ blood help us overcome the accusation and condemnation from the devil while we are still imperfect and need to deal with the flesh & desires living in this world?
(John 1:29; Hebrews 10:5-10; Hebrews 10:11-12; Romans 5:9; Romans 8:1-2)-11)
