Wise people use their words wisely.
When I was little, I was obsessed with babies. I loved baby dolls; I loved seeing babies, and I loved my mom’s pregnant belly. I didn’t know a whole lot about pregnancy as a five year old besides the mommy’s belly gets big because a super cute child is growing inside of it. Cue my kindergarten orientation where my sweet, slightly overweight teacher greeted me with a smile. My face lit up as I touched her stomach asking, “WOW! How many babies do you have in there!?” She was gracious and understanding, but my mom still refers to that as being one of the most horrifying things I said to someone as a child.
Kids get away with saying some really rude and weird things because they don’t know any better. As you get older, your words begin to carry more weight. There is great power in every single word you speak. When you allow gossip, lies, and negativity to escape your lips, they ultimately taint your relationships and your heart.
Think of the conversations you had today. Were your words kind, fair, encouraging, truthful, and purposeful?
