230216 – Pride or Trust

Sometimes, we, the Christians tend to think that everything is purely grace therefore we will not face the consequences of our choices in life.

Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV) Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Proverbs 7 (NKJV) Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil

We will do things our way when we are wise in our own eyes, and we don’t consult what the Lord has to say in His word. That’s pride. We are not open to the counsel of God, neither do we spend much time reading His word. We will probably even ignore the clear and distinct prompting of the Holy Spirit because our mind and heart is set on doing what we want to do!

The pressure that we are encountering will tempt us to compromise with the values and principles of God’s word.

Don’t be deceived! Don’t be fooled! Don’t think you can get away from it! The law of sowing and reaping always works regardless of whether it is agriculturally or morally.

The Apostle Paul put it very plainly and bluntly to us that we will reap the consequences of the choices and the decisions that we make independent of God. We will not get away from taking responsibility and the repercussions of acting in the flesh. The Holy Spirit is our teacher regarding how we are to live our lives, He prompts us to make the right choices and brings into remembrance the word of God. Therefore, we are either to yield to the Spirit or the flesh the desire of us to live independent of God. There is a daily war in our flesh, but it doesn’t mean we cannot be victorious. We can overcome every attempt of the flesh to make decisions that are independent of God. The flesh or the sin in us do not dictate to us anymore because we are no longer a slave to sin neither is Satan our master.

Proverbs 5-6 (NKJV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

We need to trust and have faith in God that He will have our best interest at heart as He directs our steps or else we will choose to walk in our own ways! Many people fail at this step, they struggle to let go of themselves, fall back and allow the Heavenly Father to carry us.

Are you trusting the Lord, committing your plans to Him through prayer and believing that He will direct you well?
