0130 – What Kind of Christian Are You? |TBS Devotions

The one who plants and the one who waters have the same purpose, and each will be rewarded for his own work.

~ 1 Corinthians 3.8 NCV

What does it mean to be a Christian? An easy way to answer this question is to look at word “Christ” and the letters I A N.  Someone wrote that IAN could be an acronym for I Am Nothing. So, without Christ I Am Nothing. But with Christ I am a Christian: a new creation, with a new identity.

I believe in Jesus Christ, I follow Jesus Christ, I accept Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord. Christ is the solid rock upon which I build my life. But that’s not all. As a Christian I have a role to play. The Bible says, I can plant or I can water. I can be used by God to share the gospel, or share be an encouragement to someone by sharing a verse or my own testimony.

Whatever I do for the Lord, He will use it for His glory. Our God has a purpose. He wants to establish His Kingdom on earth and he gave us a role to play: a work.  So, I will be rewarded for the work that I do, not for the work that my parents did. God intended you to be a certain person, doing certain things but he will never force you to it. It is a decision that you and I have to make on a daily basis: to obey God and trust His Son or to ignore Him and loose the very purpose of your existence.

Be the right kind of Christian. Trust your Heavenly Father. He will never lead you astray. Guard your heart from fear, anxiety, pride or any other negative feelings. When you make mistakes, don’t blame others but take responsibility and learn from your mistakes. Let the Holy Spirit work in you and lead you to repent before the Lord.

Our God watches over us. That’s why we can chose to move forward and ask Him to grant us understanding. With Christ living in us, we will know what’s right and do what’s right. We will be authentic and genuine is our daily walk with Christ.
