240313 – Find Grace at the Throne

Hebrews 4:14-16 (NKJV) Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

God has given us an open invitation to approach Him whenever we have a need in our lives, and we are encouraged to go to the throne of grace boldly. Boldness comes when we know that God does not look at us based on our self-righteousness, but He looks at us, accept us and show favours towards us because He sees us in Christ.

Having the following new creation realities in mind will help us to be bold in entering into His presence, and enable us to share with Him freely about the challenges that we are facing, without being affected by feelings of unworthiness which the devil tries to feed us, because we know our new identity in Christ.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14)

  • He made us accepted in the Beloved. (Ephesians 1:6)
  • He gave us the right to be the children of God. (John 1:12)
  • In whom also, having believed, I am sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. (Ephesians 1:13)
  • I am found and seen in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith. (Philippians 3:9)
  • In whom I have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. Therefore I do not lose heart in my tribulations. (Ephesians 3:12-13)
  • I have an open invitation by God into His presence to find help, grace, and mercy in time of need. (Hebrews 4:12)

We all need God’s grace to go through the different challenges that we face daily in life; we need His infusion of strength, patience, favour, wisdom and strategic ideas to go through the current challenging times.

Marathon runners need glucose and water to continually energize and hydrate their bodies so that they wouldn’t wear out before the finish line, and it would be presumptuous for them to think they can run the race without any form of relief along the way. In the same way, it would be presumptuous for us to think that we can finish our race without needing God’s grace. Therefore, let’s take up His invitation for we also need God’s grace to help us to keep the pace and finish our race!

Sermon Series: Go to the Throne of Grace
