230803-Should This Mountain Be in Your Life?

Mark 11:23 (NKJV) For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

When Jesus asks us to speak to the mountain, it implies that the mountain should not have a place in our lives. These mountains symbolise hindrances that are not from God. To speak to the mountains in our lives, we must first identify what these mountains represent. Fear, lack, and sickness are examples of mountains that should not be a part of our lives. As believers, we can confidently reject these mountains and stand on the promises of God.

1 John 4:17-18 (NKJV) Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgement; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Fear is not of God. The perfect love of God dispels all fear. God is with us, He will help us, and He will never leave nor forsake us. We can confidently reject any form of fear, including the fear of judgement or physical death, because God’s love and acceptance provide us with peace and security.

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God provides for us, including our material needs though He expects us to work and provide for our families. God promised He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. Therefore, lack should not have a place in our lives.

Matthew 9:35 (NKJV) Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

God is with us in our suffering, and He is the source of healing. There is suffering in this fallen world due to the sin nature of man, but God is not distant from our pain. In fact, Jesus willingly entered into human suffering by becoming man, enduring physical pain, emotional turmoil, and even separation from the Father. He empathises with our sicknesses, illnesses, sorrow, and grief. We can take solace in the knowledge that God desires healing for us. Jesus went about healing every sickness, disease, and oppression caused by the devil. Therefore, any form of sickness and illness should not be part of our lives.

From Scriptures, we know that the mountains of fear, lack, and sickness should not be in our lives. God wants these mountains out of our lives. There is power in the spoken word. Therefore, let’s speak to the mountains, and see them removed!

Sermon Series: Cell Group Campaign (Session 2)
