230701 – The Everlasting Father

Romans 8:15 (NKJV) For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

It is sad that not many people have a positive image of an earthly father today because there are many children who are fatherless or have an absentee father in this world. In fact, this is one of the contributing factors for children growing up confused and misguided in their lives. However, when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we have peace with God and we can grow up to be a secure person even though we might have come from a broken family without any fatherly figure at home. This is the kind of peace that God wants us to have in life. No matter what we are going through in life, we need to remember that He is our Wonderful Counsellor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.

Jesus came to show us who the Heavenly Father is. God desires to have fellowship with each one of us rather than enmity that was brought about by sin. He wanted us to be holy and blameless before Him even before the foundation of the world. He wants all of us to be His children. We believe in a triune God—God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus showed forth the power of the Almighty God when He walked on earth during His ministry. He went about healing the sick, casting out demons, raising the dead and delivering those who were oppressed by the devil.

The name ‘Everlasting Father’ does not conflict with the first person of the godhead because Jesus and the Father are one. God, the Heavenly Father, loves us so much that He sent Jesus to save us. He wants a restored relationship and gives us the right to become His children.

John 1:12 (NKJV) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

God is the Head of the Christian family and the Everlasting Father. There is nothing that we cannot share with our Heavenly Father because He loves us unconditionally. We can express our sorrows, frustrations, disappointments, and challenges to Him because He cares for us. Therefore, it gives us great comfort to have Jesus as our Mediator, and at the same time, we can share unreservedly with our Heavenly Father.

Will you take some time to come before the Father to share with Him the issues that you are facing so that He can journey with you, guide you and give you peace no matter the situation you are enduring?
