“Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.”

~ Jonah 3:1-5

REFLECT

Never say no for someone! That’s a saying that businessmen use when thinking of to whom they should sell their products, and it’s a saying that Christ followers should adopt as well! When it comes to sharing our faith with others, sometimes we may be tempted to skip people because of one reason or another. Jonah tried to run from the city of Nineveh, but when he gets there, what happens? Thousands of people begin repenting, fasting, and even put on sackcloth to resemble their brokenness over their sin! Imagine if Jonah had continued to say no to this city! One of the major lessons from the story of Jonah is that we never know who is ready to respond to the Gospel; it’s just our job to share it with whoever we can. Your friends, neighbors, and family members all need to hear about Jesus! So today’s challenge is to simply share your faith. Don’t worry about making excuses or wonder what people will think because just like the story of Jonah, you never know who is ready to accept Christ.

PRAYER

Father God, help me to see the people with whom I am supposed to share my faith. God, may I not make excuses for not sharing my faith, but may I be bold in sharing you with the people I am around today. I love you, Lord. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
