0120 – What’s Your Plan? | TBS Devotions

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord ’s purpose that prevails.”

~Proverbs 19:21 NIV

Christians are blessed because we belong to the family of God.  The God that we serve has a plan for us.  Not to harm us, but to give us a future and a hope. We can put our trust in Him because His purpose will prevail.

Does it mean we shouldn’t plan anything today?  Absolutely not.  Our job is to seek first the kingdom of God.  We need to set apart a time to inquire the Lord and speak to Him.  He gave us so many abilities and opportunities to improve our skills.  But in his great Love for us, our God also wants to empower us so we can be effective vessels in His hand.

When you make plans, be aware of your motives. Our hearts can be deceived by the influence of this world.  We can easily fall in the traps of the enemy if we are not discerning.  Our selfish ambitions, our pride, our ego can sometimes lead us to a path that is not in line with the Will of God.  Our “good motives” can also hinder the best plan that the Lord has in store for us.

So, let’s open up our hearts to Him.  Let’s pray and submit our plans, our ideas, our dreams and the desire of our hearts.  Let’s have an attitude of obedience, knowing that the Holy Spirit might lead us to another direction.  His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, but we can rest assured that he’s got our best interest at heart.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you are the light of this world.  Thank you for showing me the true condition of my heart.  Forgive me Lord, when I don’t put my trust in you.  Help me develop a greater understanding of your plan for my life.  Show the path of life. Teach me how to walk according to your way.  I want to hear from you, Lord.  Speak to me this morning.  Comfort me Lord.  You are my hiding place.  In you I have peace.
