230401 – Who Is God? | TBS Devotions

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”

Genesis 1:1

Have you ever wondered who God is? Or maybe someone asked you this question. There was a time when neither the world nor the heavens existed. There was no day or night, and there were no living creatures. The only being was God himself.

But God wanted to create men and women and a beautiful world for them to live in. From nothing, he created everything. God is the Creator. He just said: “Let there be light”, and light was created. When he had created the world, the time had come to create Adam and Eve, the first people. Now are over 7 billion people on earth but there is just one God. The God of the Bible. “ The Lord our God, the Lord is one”.

However, people have always created their own gods and idols, although these are not like God. He can speak; they are mute. He can see; they are blind. He helps you; they do not.

Maybe you don’t trust in idols of wood, clay or metal. But what is an idol? It is whatever you put your trust in: your money, your social position, your traditions, your self. All these are idols which we ourselves create. But God is not created by people.

He created everything and he is Our Creator and the only God. An idol never gives you anything. But God loves you and gives you his best!

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for creating the whole universe. Thank for loving me and helping me to stay away from idols. I put my trust in you. I believe in your Word and choose to obey your voice. Thank you for reminding he how much you care of me. I will hide it in my heart and glorify you in everything I do or say. Amen.
