“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having ALL SUFFICIENCY in all things, may have an ABUNDANCE for every good work. 9 As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.”10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, SUPPLY and MULTIPLY the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, 13 while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, 14 and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. 15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
2 Corinthians 9:6–15 (NKJV)
Discussion Questions:
- When a person gives—whether through tithes or freewill offerings—is it offered out of worship and obedience to God, or is the response still shaped by reluctance, fear, or a sense of obligation? How is God inviting His children to faithfully steward all that He has entrusted to them—including finances, time, and various resources—so that they may bless others and advance the work of the gospel both within the church and beyond? (Exodus 35:29; 2 Corinthians 9:6–15)
- Please share your understanding of “grace.” Are you willing, beyond faith and love, to continually practice and grow in the “grace of giving”? What kind of life truly reflects the truth that God is the source of life and every blessing? In everyday living, how can a person demonstrate trust and dependence on God’s provision? In what areas of your life do you still need to rely more on the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, learning ongoing obedience and continuing to grow through spiritual disciplines? (2 Corinthians 8:7; Acts 17:28; Galatians 2:21; Deuteronomy 8:18)
- When you face financial pressure or times of lack, how do you usually respond in faith? In those moments, what does it mean for you to obey God’s principles and continue sowing faithfully? How do you learn to trust God while you wait, believing that He will provide and increase in His perfect timing, so that you may experience a spiritual “harvest”? In everyday life, how do we view the money and resources we have? Are we willing to manage what God has entrusted to us with the heart of a steward, rather than seeing it as something that fully belongs to ourselves? (Luke 6:38; Proverbs 19:17; Matthew 10:40–41)
