“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, theBeginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Revelation 22:12-13 (NKJV)
Discussion Questions:
- If Jesus clearly declares that He is coming to “give to each one according to what he has done,” how would you honestly examine and discover your true motivation—are you driven by temporary earthly success, or drawn by eternal heavenly reward? If even “a cup of cold water” given in His name will not lose its reward, what small, seemingly insignificant acts of service might we be overlooking or neglecting in our daily lives? (Revelation 22:12–13; Matthew 10:42)
- If our works will be tested by fire, how might we intentionally shape our daily choices, commitments, and patterns of service so that what we build will endure as “gold, silver, precious stones,” rather than fade like “wood, hay, straw”? As we are called to be “rich in good works” and “servant of all,” is there a particular ministry that has been on your heart or has stirred your interest—and what might be quietly holding you back from taking a step into it? (1 Corinthians 3:12–14; 1 Timothy 6:17–18; Mark 9:35)
Sermon Summary
This week’s sermon emphasizes investing our lives in God’s unshakable Kingdom through faithful service. While salvation is by grace through Christ alone, believers are called to live with eternity in mind, storing up treasures in heaven rather than on earth. Scripture teaches Jesus will return with rewards for every believer according to their work, and small acts of service done in His name. Our works will be tested by fire, revealing eternal value or selfish motives. All believers invited to serve through diverse gifts. We are encouraged to serve faithfully, with pure hearts, awaiting God’s “Well done.”
