5 Likewise, you younger men [of lesser rank and experience], be subject to your elders [seek their counsel]; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another [tie on the servant’s apron], for God is opposed to the proud [the disdainful, the presumptuous, and He defeats them], but He gives grace to the humble. 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, 7 casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].8 Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack—rooted, established, immovable], knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being experienced by your brothers and sisters throughout the world. [You do not suffer alone.] 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be]. 11 To Him be dominion (power, authority, sovereignty) forever and ever. Amen.

Discussion Questions:
- In our journey of following Christ, we all face challenges, pressures, and moments of uncertainty. Can you share a time when you experienced God’s presence and grace during a difficult season? How can we recognize and deal with areas of pride that may hinder us from receiving God’s guidance and the counsel of others? When facing fears, anxieties, and important decisions, what practical steps can we take to surrender our cares to God and grow in faith and dependence on Him? (1 Peter 5:5)
- Fear can come in many forms and affect the way we think, make decisions, and relate to God and others. Can you share a fear or worry that has challenged your faith? How can we identify areas where the fear of people, circumstances, or the unknown may be influencing our choices and stealing our peace? What practical steps can we take to trust God more, surrender our fears to Him, and live with the confidence that He is with us and for us? (2 Timothy 1:7; Psalm 27:1-2)
- God invites us to find our security and peace in Him rather than in what we can control. What are some things that we often hold onto or rely on for security instead of fully trusting God? How does knowing God as the Great I AM—faithful, unchanging, and sufficient—change the way we view our challenges, uncertainties, and future? As we learn to cast our cares upon Him, what areas of our lives require a deeper surrender and a renewed trust in His promises? (1 Peter 5:7; John 14:27)
Sermon Summary
This week’s sermon reminds us to cast all our cares, anxieties, and worries upon the Lord because He cares for us. In a world filled with challenges, uncertainty, and pressure, we can find peace by trusting God’s presence, love, and faithfulness. As the Great I AM, God is our provider, protector, and strength in every situation. We are called to humble ourselves, surrender our burdens to Him, and rely on His grace. Even when we face difficulties, we can rest in His supernatural peace, knowing that He is with us, for us, and will guide us through every season of life.
