Agreeing with the Word of God

Discussion Questions:

1. Share your understanding of the power of God’s Word. Do you agree that the period between saying “Amen” and seeing the answer is often the hardest? Why or why not? What circumstances or thoughts tend to challenge your faith during that waiting period? How can you make God’s Word a bigger part of your daily conversations, prayers, and decisions this week? (Gen. 1:3; John 1:1–3; Col. 1:16; Heb. 1:3)
2. Why is it significant that Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father”? How can someone know many Bible stories or attend church regularly, yet still not truly know God? In your own life, what has helped you move from knowing about God to developing a personal relationship with Him? (John 1:14,18; Number 23:19)
3. What did these two men have in common in the way they responded to Jesus? Why do you think Jesus commended the centurion’s faith? The sermon teaches that God often works through both His supernatural power and natural means. Why is it important to trust Him in both?( John 4:50-53; Matt 8:8-10)

Sermon Summary

This week’s sermon reminds us that true faith begins by agreeing with the Word of God. God revealed Himself through creation, Scripture, and ultimately through Jesus Christ, so we can know His character and trust His promises. Just as God created all things by His Word, His promises still carry creative power today. Faith is taking God at His Word before we see the result, standing firm on both His written Word (Logos) and His personal Word (Rhema). As we walk closely with Him in prayer, obedience, and consecration, we grow from merely knowing about God to truly knowing and experiencing Him.
