“Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.”
– Proverbs 22:4
The Bible says God resist the pride but gives grace to the humble. Humility is an attitude of the heart. When we love God with all our heart and choose to follow his ways instead of walking in sin, we are putting on humility. Jesus is the perfect example of humility.
He knew the truth and he lived by the truth in a world where so many people lie to themselves and corrupt their heart with false religion. Jesus loved God and walked with God during his time on earth. He spoke with authority, healed the sick, and spread the good news of the gospel everywhere.
God calls us to be followers of Jesus. We should value others and develop of reverence for God. When we know we are right, we can choose peace and let God do the work of conviction. When we are blessed with great achievement and opportunities to travel or to pursue our dreams, we give God all the glory. We testify of His goodness to the people around us. He lifts up the weak through our words and encouragement. We find comfort in the Word of God and we comfort others with the words of our testimony. We follow the Prince of peace and we live as peacemakers wherever we go.
We pray earnestly for ourselves and for our family and friends. We persevere in prayer when days are evil, we focus our eyes on God who is greater than any circumstances. We don’t give up loving our friends and family and also our enemy because that’s what God instructed us to do. We don’t put our trust in our limited ability but we believe that God can make us do great things as we submit to His will and follow His ways. We are gracious because God is gracious, we are compassionate because He is compassionate.
By doing so, we are living in humility and the Bible says it wages are riches, and honor and life. Praise the Lord for his glorious riches! We can partake of it and live an honorable life! He gives us life, and he gives it abundantly. It all start with humility of the heart. A godly character that God develop in us the day we receive His son Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Prayer: Holy Spirit I welcome you this morning. Move within me and work through me. You are the lifegiving Spirit. Help me be fervent in prayer and patient in tribulation. Sanctify my life and take authority over my decision and choices. Thank you for comforting me. I pray for the Joy of the Lord to be my strength.
