“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” – Galatians 5:25
The Bible says that God is Spirit and those who worship Him, must worship in spirit and in truth (Isaiah 28:5-8). God has also sent his Holy Spirit to live in us, so that we can learn to live by the Spirit instead of using our flesh because spiritual things are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14 also says that “Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
Let us invite the Holy Spirit this day, to go before us and lead us throughout the day. We need guidance, clarity, as well as heavenly wisdom. Praise be to God because all these can be given to us by the power of the Holy Spirit.
When we allow the Spirit of God to move within us, we can experience divine changes in our character and in our ways of life. It is a life-giving Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
When we live by the Spirit, we don’t gratify the desire of the flesh. The Bible says they are opposed to each other. When sin entered the world, there is a sinful nature at work in us. Nobody taught us to sin; we just do it naturally. Nobody teaches a child to pout or to lie… the sinful nature in us make us do a lot of wrong things. But we have a living hope in Jesus. His precious blood washes away our sin.
As we live by the Spirit, we are directed and governed by it. We can walk in newness of life. We can live daily in fellowship with God and be changed from the inside out.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I welcome you. Change the atmosphere in my room as well as in my house and everywhere I go. I believe in the power of God. I trust that you, God, can revive my faith and my spirit. I choose to celebrate and rejoice, because Jesus Christ lives in me. Amen
