Hebrews 10:11-12 (NKJV) And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,
If we want to do great exploits for God, we need to have faith in God based on what Jesus Christ has done for us. We want to be able to approach God with boldness because one of the devil’s tactics is to use the weaknesses in our lives to make us feel unworthy before God.
God has taught us throughout Jewish history that He required them to approach through the sacrifices of an unblemished lamb. In the earthly tabernacle, the High Priest had no rest because animals had to be continuously sacrificed. Even on the Day of Atonement, sacrifices were only temporal because they could never remove people’s sins. However, Jesus’ work of atonement and redemption was so thorough and complete that no more sacrifices are needed in the temple or by us now.
Jesus, the Messiah, the promised One through the Abrahamic Covenant, has finished the work on the cross. He was made sin for us and gave us His righteousness. The blessedness of the New Covenant is that dead works like the sacrifices, rituals, and offerings by the priest are no longer needed. We are saved entirely by the grace of God, not by works so that nobody can boast. We have the right to stand in God’s presence by the blood of Jesus. God is not angry with us because the blood of Jesus has settled the sin issue for us once and for all. We have peace with Him. Therefore, New Testament believers should be the most confident people because we have come to a position of rest. This enables us to do greater exploit for God by faith in Him. God no longer addresses us as servants but as friends to whom He will reveal what the Heavenly Father has in mind for our lives.
Romans 5:9 (NKJV) Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
Living in the New Testament means we are entitled to a superior life in Christ because Jesus is our High Priest. He has gone into the heavenly tabernacle to minister on our behalf and sat beside the Father. Therefore, the Bible asks us to enter the throne with boldness to find help and mercy in times of need because it is a new and living way paved for us with Jesus’ blood!
The Bible says in Daniel 11:32 that the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. Knowing God means we understand the finished work of Jesus Christ for us. Therefore, let us have faith that we can approach Him, share with Him and receive from Him!
Sermon: Growing Your Faith in God (Part 2 )
