A supply chain is comprised of every resource necessary to create an end product. Usually, a supply chain is quite substantial, even for the simplest of products. Think about a piece of paper. Creating a basic piece of printer paper involves a supply chain of tree farmers, lumberjacks, trucks, shredders, paper processing plants, salesmen, and distributers. All that work is just so that your teachers can print packets of math equations. Paul’s letter to the Philippians outlines the supply chain for a content life. It’s far simpler than anything we’ve created. Joy in all circumstances requires just one thing: Jesus.
Philippians 4:11-13
“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Paul found joy in all circumstances through Jesus. Remember what Paul has endured as he writes these words to the Philippians. He’s experienced prison, unjust treatment, false accusation, hunger, thirst, violence, and setbacks. Life has given Paul countless reasons to lose hope, but one reason for faith has outweighed them all. Paul has Jesus, and Jesus gives him everything he needs to be content in life.
Jesus is the source of joy. In Him, you find strength in any circumstance. In Him, you find purpose in any place. In Him, you find hope in any hardship. No matter what you are going through, fix your eyes upon Jesus. In Him, you will have everything you need.
