Romans 5:1 (NKJV) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Peace with God is a birthright of every believer. We need to be equipped and ever-ready to share this truth with unbelievers. We are no longer separated from God due to sin because Jesus has dealt with the sin problem that created a gulf between God and us. We have peace with God through the sacrificial blood of Jesus.
Ephesians 6:15 (AMP) And having shod your feet in preparation (to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness and the readiness produces by the good news) of the gospel of peace.
The word “shod” or “having shod” in the original Greek literally means to bind under. Thus it means to bind under one’s feet and to put on shoes or sandals. The Roman soldiers’ sandals were bound by thongs over the instep and around the ankle. On the bottom, the soles were thickly studded with cleats, studs or spikes to help them dig in and stand in the face of battle. They studs would also give them a firm footing in case of attack and navigate all kinds of terrain in the war zones. Likewise, we will also experience difficult moments that seem like rocky grounds or thorny situations. Therefore, we will also need to walk firmly in these situationsand be protected by peace.
As Christian soldiers, we should ensure that our feet are equipped with the sandals that will give us a firm footing, namely the good news that speaks peace to a sinful heart, for the Lord Jesus made peace by the blood of his cross, making a way for a holy God to reunite Himself with a believing sinner who, in Adam, had been separated from Him and His life.
Colossians 1:20 (NKJV) and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
It is important to know that we have peace with God through the blood of Christ so that we can bring the gospel of peace to others and be comforted that we have peace with God amid a warzone. It is a reminder to us that we are no longer an enemy of God and that we should always be ready to preach or share the gospel.
Sermon: The Weapon of Our Spiritual Warfare (Part 3)
