19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Heb 10:19-25
Q & A:
- Are you pursuing religion or relationship with God and What is the state of your relationship with God? Knowing that animal sacrifices in the Old Testament were no longer needed as Jesus’ blood has completely dealt with the sin issue and obtained peace with God for us, discuss how have you been developing this wonderful vertical relationship with God versus seeking Him for a quick fix or bailout package. (Heb 10:19-20, 22; Luke 23:45; Heb 10:11-12; Heb 4:16)
- What have you learnt about the importance of horizontal relationship with people, especially through the recent Shanghai lock-down in proactively looking out for our neighbors, compound management, security guards with more understanding, compassion and empathy towards one another? What really sets us apart from the world as believers and how can we show love to our fellow believers? (Heb 10:24-25)
- As a believer, discuss why we should not go to a church out of convenience and why we need to continue to meet as body of Christ or cell group either online or when we are able to resume onsite. Considering that God never intended for anyone to face life’s challenges alone, explain why it is critical to have a support group of people (like-minded, faith-filled friends) to journey with us and spur us on as church or cell group especially when we are weak in faith. (Matt 18:19-20)
