Mathew 18:18-20 (NKJV) “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Many of us today find ourselves navigating the slow economic recovery. When the natural world feels as if it is shifting beneath our feet, the believer does not need to panic or be swayed by the “bad reports” circulating in the marketplace, because we can have a firm footing, a spiritual foundation that enables us to stand courageously and strong after we have sought the will of God for our lives. It is easier to know how to pray when we know God’s will for our lives. Because God has given us free will, how close our walk with God is is up to us. He will draw near to us when we draw near to Him. We will find Him when we seek Him, including His will for our lives.
There is a specific, high-level spiritual weapon that many have heard of, but few have truly mastered: the prayer of agreement. Jesus gave us a “hard saying” in the gospel that seems almost too good to be true, yet it is a foundational law of the Kingdom of God. He promised that if just two people on earth agree concerning anything they ask, it will be done by the Father in heaven. This is not a religious formula or repetitive chant, but a powerful partnership in which the faith of two individuals harmonises to release heaven’s authority on earth. The Bible didn’t say it might be done, but it promises us that for those who agree in prayer, it will be done by the Father in heaven!
Though it is a definite act of God, it takes faith to believe that we will receive what we have prayed for in the prayer of agreement, and that faith must come from knowing God, His revealed will for our lives, and the promises found in the Word. While the promise holds true that it will be done, the challenge is whether we have truly agreed with one another!
Therefore, we should find a prayer partner. Instead of talking about our mountains, we should start speaking to them in agreement. This is how we release the “rivers of living water” through our prayer life. When we move in agreement with the Word and the Spirit, we move with heaven itself.
