Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
When we, as believers, accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we are given the position of righteousness, which makes us the righteousness of God in Christ and places us in a right relationship with God. Righteousness gives us the ability to stand in the presence of God the Father without feeling guilty, condemned, or inferior, as though sin had never existed.
We have no part to play in it. Our past is covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. God does not remember our past or our sins any longer because Jesus has dealt with the sin issue that separated us. We did not earn this position, but it is given to us. Through God’s abundant grace, He has made us acceptable in the Beloved. Therefore, we can rest in God’s love. We know that God accepts us solely because of Jesus’ atoning work. Our righteous standing in Christ brings us peace and security.
Insecure individuals tend to be high-maintenance because they constantly seek attention and validation from others. They are sensitive to every remark or action directed at them. However, since we live in a broken and fallen world where we will never fully receive love, affirmation, and validation from others, their emotions can fluctuate wildly when they do not get validation or acceptance. This insecurity also affects their relationship with God. In fact, the root of rejection began in the Garden of Eden. Thus, it is a spiritual issue.
Some Christians believe that God’s love is conditional, and therefore, He is never truly pleased with them or fully accepts them because of their weaknesses. They don’t understand how God perceives them or His attitude towards them, and often wonder if God is punishing them whenever they face adversity. This is why the Apostle Paul prayed for the church in Ephesus that the spirit of wisdom and revelation would open the eyes of their understanding so they might know the riches of their inheritance in Christ. (Ephesians 1:17-18)
Justify means to declare or make righteous. We have peace with God because the blood of Jesus Christ has satisfied God’s wrath and judgement on the issue of sin that once separated us from God. We have been justified, made righteous, and accepted by God. This is a powerful truth that needs to sink deeply into our hearts. One of the inheritances we possess is the position of righteousness. We are justified and declared righteous by God. It is sufficient because He is the most supreme being and the ultimate judge of our lives. Jesus’ blood paid the price for our sins and has declared us righteous!
