James 1:5-8 (NKJV) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
God will help us when we walk in our calling. God has promised us that if we ask, it will be given to us, and if we seek Him, we will find Him (Matthew 7:7-8). Man’s challenge these days is that we are enslaved by the tyranny of the urgent rather than doing what is essential. Many Christians have no time for prayer or reading God’s Word, but there is nothing more important than setting aside time for God.
These verses tell us that we can fully access God’s wisdom. Because God is generous, He will give liberally when we seek His wisdom. Nonetheless, we must begin in faith that we can receive His wisdom, which will be imparted to our spirit and will surface in our mind as ideas regarding how certain things can be done, a business plan, or someone we can reach out to for opportunities or advice.
When we want to fulfil God’s calling, we should always return to our identity in Christ by reminding ourselves of who we are, what we have, and what we can do because knowing how God has chosen to see us in Christ will make us confident and bold.
Romans 5:1-2 (NKJV) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
The redemptive work of Jesus Christ has caused us to be accepted in the beloved and hidden in Christ. He accepts us based on what Jesus has achieved for us and who we are in Christ. We are seen as righteous, blameless and holy because we are hidden in Christ. We can have faith that He hears us when we pray in Jesus’ name. This positional truth has nothing to do with what we have or have not done but is purely based on the grace of God and His Agape love towards us.
Knowing our new identity in Christ brings a new kind of confidence. We have direct access to the King of kings at His throne of grace to find help and mercy in times of need. Knowing that we have peace with God and are accepted by Him means there is no need to strive for His acceptance through performance. Boldness, confidence, and anointing by the Holy Spirit give us a new power, grace, and ability to do well, especially when we are living out God’s calling in our lives.
Sermon Series: You Have A Calling!
