Whenever we intercede or stand in the gap between the person and God, we should quote Scriptures and pray from a position of authority to rebuke the devil, because the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit and we need to lift up the shield of faith to cover the person whom we are interceding or standing in the gap for.
Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgement You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
Intercessory prayer involves praying in the understanding and in the Spirit. We may interchange between praying in tongues and a known language, so that we are listening to the Holy Spirit in our “inner man” while praying at the same time. We are engaging our mind to pray based on what we know when we are praying in the understanding, while simultaneously listening to the Holy Spirit in our hearts.
Praying in tongues also has the added benefits of building up the “inner man” and executing the intercession in accordance with the will of God. There is grace to sustain us when we pray for someone, and we need to remember that we are partnering with God who cares for and loves the person going through the crisis more than we do. The Holy Spirit is also interceding through us, and we are assured that Jesus is interceding on the right hand of the Heavenly Father.
Intercessory prayer, or standing in the gap, is working with God and resting in Him, instead of using our own strength which would wear us out. Therefore, a good way is for us to enter into praise and worship coupled with intercessory prayer, because praise and worship will help us to focus on the awesomeness and greatness of God. Faith will arise through worship, and we will flow with the Holy Spirit as He leads and guides us regarding what to pray.
Finally, the key to intercessory prayer is to learn to rest in God by having faith that He is working in the spiritual realm when we have prayed and continued to press in through praying in tongues. It is through faith and patience that we inherit the promises of God. We need to be patient because it is always a process until we see our prayers being answered, but not seeing it in the physical realm yet doesn’t mean that breakthrough is not coming. That is why we need to engage faith the moment we start praying because faith believes even when we do not see it.

代祷时安息在神里面
无论何时，当我们作代祷或者站在某人与上帝之间的破口处，都应该引用圣经经文，站在权能的制高点斥责魔鬼。因为上帝的话是圣灵的宝剑。同时我们需要举起信心的盾牌，遮盖我们所为之代祷的那个人。
以赛亚书54：17：“凡为攻击你造成的器械，必不利用；凡在审判时兴起用舌攻击你的，你必定他为有罪。这是耶和华仆人的产业，是他们从我所得的义。”这是耶和华说的。
代祷包括以悟性祷告和在圣灵里祷告。我们可以在方言和已知语言之间切换来祷告。这一来，好让我们一边祷告，一边聆听灵人里面圣灵的低语。当我们以悟性代祷时，我们是按照自己所知道的以头脑祷告，同时聆听圣灵在我们心里的声音。
以方言祷告还有额外的好处：那就是造就“灵人”并和照着神的旨意去代祷。当我们为某人祷告时，有恩典维持着我们，我们要记住我们是与神同工，祂比我们更关心和疼爱那个正在经历危机的人。圣灵也在藉着我们代祷，我们也确信耶稣此刻正在天父的右边不住代祷。
代祷，或“站在破口之处”，就是我们与上帝同工并安息在祂里面，而不是靠自己的力量，不然的话我们会精疲力竭的。故此，好方法是让我们进入赞美和敬拜并结合代祷。因为赞美和敬拜将会帮我们注目于上帝的可畏与伟大。信心会因着敬拜而增强。我们将随着圣灵流动，跟随祂的引领而祷告。
最后，代祷的关键是学习安息在神里面，相信当我们祷告过了并且继续以方言推进时，祂正在灵界运行。我们是籍着信心和耐心来继承上帝的应许。从我们发出祷告直到得到回应，这需要一个 过程，没有在物质世界得见并不意味着突破不会到来。这就是为什么当我们一开始祷告时就要拿出信心，因为所谓信就是尚未看见时就已相信。
