Mark 4:14, 20 (NKJV) The sower sows the word….But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.
The sowing of the seed, or the Word of God in our lives is very important because we will reap what we sow. The seed that is allowed to germinate and grow into a tree will produce a harvest of fruit in our lives. The Word of God will produce faith in our lives especially when it comes to developing conviction to help us overcome the tribulation, persecution, and adversity that the enemy throws at us in this world.
When the seed is given the right soil and watering, it will grow into a tree, and your harvest of fruit will be based on the type of seed that was sown. Just like we will reap apples if apple seeds were planted, when Scriptures about loving with God’s Agape love are preached, we will witness a loving community in the church and within the family.
Let’s take the topic of the assurance of salvation as an example. It is something almost all young Christians will question because the devil will cause them to doubt whether they are saved. Remember, the Word of God is the seed that brings about the conviction of our faith, so here are some Scriptures to substantiate the truth about the assurance of salvation from the Word of God.
Romans 10:9-11(NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
John 1:12 (NKJV) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
If these Scriptures had been sown into the young believers’ hearts, they will give them the assurance of salvation, and enable them to be stable, strong, and fully convinced that they are saved and not doubt their salvation. They will say with conviction that because they have prayed to receive Christ, they have believed in their hearts and confessed with their mouths that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Saviour. Therefore, they have the right to become children of God.
We will know the Word of God is fruitful in the lives of these believers—that the seed has fallen on good soil—when they have allowed the Word of God to assure them of their salvation when they were in doubt. It should work the same way for us in dealing with any other doubts and unbeliefs in our walks with the Lord and the deceptions of the evil one. Therefore, receive and accept the Word of God into your hearts daily, and witness the growth of your faith when it takes root in your hearts.
Sermon Series: Don’t Let it Be Stolen (Part 1)
