“And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Pioneer and Perfecter of faith.”
– Hebrews 12:1-2
If you have seen or even ran a marathon, you would have noticed some runners with a pace flag stuck to their back. Pacers are good companion for runners: they are not only there to give runners an indication of the time they might take to cross the finish line. More than just that, pacers know the route of the course inside out, taking account of all the twist and turns, quirks and idiosyncrasies, definitely better than the GPS your smart watches may relay to you. Runners can tap to pacer’s expertise to get a smoother run.
We as believers, are on a life course. This course requires one to possess composure and stamina; wisdom and heaves of core strength. Uphills and downhills are part of the course. The Holy Spirit is our Pacer. He is always by our side, directing and leading us on the right course, giving warning to us on the pit-holes along the way. The Holy Spirit speaks positivity into us. He is the power that sustains, energizes, motivates and keep us going forward, by fusing us with the power of His Living Word.
The Holy Spirit is in fact, more than just a Pacer, but a true Friend. The Holy Spirit is with us 24/7. He has eyes and ears. He sees and hears us. He lives inside us. He feels our heart beats and knows our vital signs & state of life. While on the course, we can at times feel depleted, let down or even thoughts of giving up. Yes, reality is that life route can be truly challenging. But the Holy Spirit, being our closest Friend, never fails to encourage us and comfort us. He cheers us forward, even through adversities of life. We can be brave and move forward, because the Holy Spirit reign in us! Hallelujah! Let the Holy Spirit be your Pacer, your confidante, on your course of life!
Prayer: Dear Lord, life journey can be trying sometimes. But I know You are my pacer, You are by my side, You cheer me forward and encourage me. I can keep on keeping on because of You. Thank you Father I can be a good finisher of life! In Christ Name I pray, Amen.
