READ: Matthew 5:5
Think of the biggest show-off you know. It’s that person who posts on social media everything single good thing in their life, constantly brags around friends, and does whatever it takes to have the best of everything on display. They make it seem like they have it all, and yet Jesus promises the world to people who do just the opposite. Jesus says that the meek will be blessed. “Meek” isn’t a word that we use often. Some translations of the Bible use the word “humble.” Being humble makes you happy. Quiet humility allows you to focus on God and others instead of being consumed with yourself.
What’s the third key to happiness revealed by Jesus? Being gentle and humble.
What’s one thing you can do today to humbly put someone else’s needs above your own?
Now, this doesn’t mean being a doormat or not speaking up for your needs, it means being selfless in the same way that Jesus was.
