READ: Matthew 5:4
Loss is a devastating reality of life. We lose stability when our families break apart. We lose friends when things change. We lose our lifestyles when we make bad financial decisions. We even lose loved ones due to deaths that seem unexpected and unfair. Jesus says that those who mourn will be comforted and blessed. When you mourn after a loss, it means that you feel intense sadness and regret. When you are at your lowest points, Jesus offers freedom from those feelings. Jesus is empathetic. He walked this earth as a human and understands the stomach-wrenching emotion of loss. Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Turn to God in your times of mourning. He is here for you.
What’s the second key to happiness revealed by Jesus? Seeking God when you’re in need of healing.
What loss is still weighing heavily on your heart? Go to God with your mourning and seek His freeing comfort.
