READ: Psalm 7:9-17
“I will give to the LORD the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High.” Psalm 7:17
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7
Reflection: King David prayed to give thanks to the Lord. He doesn’t thank God because he was blessed with riches or fame or never-ending happiness. He says he will thank God because God is righteous. No matter what you are facing in life, God is always good and deserving of praise. Thank Him for who He is and the basic blessings that are so often taken for granted: shelter, food, family, friends, education, and health. Thank him for the beauty of his creation, for sunsets and skies and wildflowers. Thank him for the skills and talents he’s given you and ask him how He wants you to use your abilities. Celebrate the blessings that God provides for you! The more you do, the more you’ll realize how much God is truly working daily in your life.
Prayer Prompt: Why are you thankful to serve Jesus Christ? What blessings can you thank Him for? What prayers has God answered for which you can thank Him? How does seeing God at work in your life strengthen your faith?
