READ: Hosea 12:6
“But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always.”
It’s so easy to take good things for granted. You probably have climate control to keep your house comfortable, food in the refrigerator to keep your stomach full, and invisible internet signals moving throughout your home to keep you connected. All of these things were modern luxuries upon invention, but we hardly notice them now. We take so much for granted.
The same thing happened to the ancient Israelites. They took God for granted. He rescued them from slavery in Egypt, He led them through the wilderness, and He helped them overcome thousands of hardships. However, they kept running away from Him like a child running away from a climate-controlled home with a freezer full of Hot Pockets.
Hosea’s call was simple: Return to God. Even if you took God for granted, He would still provide for you. Even if you ran away, He would accept you. Even if you turned your back, He would embrace you. Even if you’ve made unimaginable mistakes, He would forgive you. God was inviting His people to a homecoming party.
The invitations are in the mail. You are invited too. It’s never too late to return to God. He’ll throw a big celebration when you do, and He always throws the best parties.
