JOHN 15
We can be a little obsessed with our phones, right?
It’s the first thing we look at in the morning and the last thing we check before going to bed. We spend hours just scrolling through pointless pictures. Once an airplane lands, everyone quickly turns off airplane mode and starts typing away. We are captivated by connection.
When Jesus was giving His followers advice on how to thrive through troubles, He said this, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (15:5).
What if we were as connected to Jesus as we are to our phones? Using the analogy of a plant, Jesus says that you cannot expect to see fruit if the branch is disconnected from the tree. It doesn’t work that way. You have never seen a dead twig covered in peaches. The same is true for our lives. If you want to see the radical difference in your life that Jesus promises, then you need to be connected to Him.
If you strive to thrive in your spiritual life, connection is key.
