Our world is obsessed with “living your best life.” We gawk at outlandish influencers, celebrities, and models on Instagram. We obsess over capturing the perfect vacation snapshot. We strive to have more, do more, and make more. But is that what living your best life is all about? If we are not careful, we can chase our best future life without realizing that we could actually be living it out right now.
When millionaire John Rockefeller was asked what would make him happy, he smirked and replied, “One more dollar.” This man was one of the richest people in human history, but he wasn’t fulfilled by all his fortune. The question is not WHAT would give you fulfillment in life, it’s WHO.
Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the fullest.” An abundant life comes from Jesus and Him alone. If you are chasing anything other than Jesus, you will not find your best life. Jesus is the source of an abundant life. We often think of abundance in the context of cash, cars, and caviar. Jesus wants to totally flip this view upside down. An abundant life with Christ is built upon things that you cannot collect: peace, joy, and love. It’s not about what you have; it’s about who you are becoming.
