So, when they had come together, they asked him Lord, will you at this time restore the Kingdom to Israel. He said to them, it is not for you to know the times or seasons that the father has fixed by his own authority, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. Well, that’s not the end, and when he said these things as they were looking up, He was lifted up and a cloud took him out of their sight, and while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes and said. Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven. This Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
Acts 1:6-11
Q & A:
- How did Jesus fulfill the law during His 33 years living as a man on earth before His ascension? Discuss how Jesus is able to sympathize with our weaknesses when we feel that we have let God down. (Acts 1:6-11; Matt 5:17)
- Discuss how you understand why Jesus died on the cross, was raised from the dead and ascended to be at the right hand of God. Where is Jesus now in the midst of COVID-19 and global economic crisis? Do you believe that Jesus is upholding all things in the universe by the word of His power and in control or do you believe only after seeing the evidence as in the world? (Mark 15:32; Heb 1:3; Exo 3)
- What is Jesus doing at the right hand of God after ascension? Discuss how your prayers or faith level may be affected, knowing that Jesus is interceding the prayers for you and reigning as king by making all His enemies His footstool. (1 John 5:14; Psa 106:15; Gal 2:20; Psa 84:11; Psa 110:1-2)
