11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and SEEN THE END INTENDED BY THE LORD—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. 12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment. 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
James 5:11-15
Q & A:
- What are the Biblical truths established about Jesus versus our adversary in our times, so that we can take up the shield of faith that will quench the flaming arrows of the devil? Discuss how you can stand against the accusation and condemnation from the devil by putting on the breastplate of righteousness. (Jam 5:11-15; Eph 6:14, 16; Rom 3:20; Rom 8:34)
- Discuss how you can teach your children not just with the knowledge of God but also to model to them the walk with God, knowing that God has children but no grandchildren; and the devil will attack when people forsake God, backslide, or intentionally walk out of God’s protection. (Job 1:4-5, 18; Jer 5:6-7; Prov 22:6; 2 John 1:4)
- Do you believe like the Jews that prosperity is a blessing of God, and acknowledge that all our material possession is from God? Discuss how you perceive God as He was able to restore the wealth and possession that Job lost through the suffering and crisis. (Deu 8:18; Deu 28:1-5; 12-13; Job 1:9-10; Job 43:12-13)
