Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:12-16 (NKJV)

CG Discussion Questions:

1. How does God communicate with us and explain what the Bible means with “out of the belly (heart) will flow rivers of living water”? What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and how is the experience with the Holy Spirit different from the point of salvation?
(John 7:37-39; John 20:19-23; Ephesians 1:13-14; Acts 1:4-5)

2. Explain why we are all given different spiritual gifts and what is the key criteria in operating the gifts of the Holy Spirit. What are the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit under the 3 categories and how do you differentiate the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge?
(1 Peter 4:7-10; 1 Peter 4:11)

3. How is the gift of faith different from the measure of faith for the different stages of believers? Why is someone with the gift of healing not able to heal all different kinds of illnesses or sicknesses and what does that reveal to you about the intention of operating in the power gifts? Explain how the oral gifts (gift of prophecy, gift of tongue) are operated and how it is different from the prayer tongue.
(1 Corinthians 14:13-15; 1 Corinthians 14:26-28)
