Poverty Caused by Illness, Illness Caused Poverty “因病致贫，因病返贫”
Hongqiao Community Underprivileged Families, due to the population’s elderly needs, rapid advancement of medical technology, equipment and other various reasons, the burden of medical expenses are rising by the year, basic medical insurance these days can no longer resolve the burden of chronic diseases suffered by many households. Even within the city of Shanghai, there are countless families around us who cannot afford their living expenses caused by chronic illnesses. 虹桥社区贫困家庭，由于人口老龄化需求，医疗技术、设备快速进步等多方面原因，居民所承担的医疗费用负担逐年上升，如今的基本医疗保险已无法解决慢性病的负担。即使在上海这个城市，我们身边也有无数家庭因慢性病而负担不起生活费。
Illness Caused Poverty Families 因病致贫
Due to the metastasis of pancreatic cancer to liver cancer after resection, patients need to be hospitalized irregularly for chemotherapy and targeted therapy, and the medical cost is estimated to be about 200,000-300,000 yuan. Even though his wife is working, his family still has children in kindergarten, which makes life difficult.
由于胰腺癌切除后转移至肝癌，需不定期住院进行化疗和靶向治疗，医疗费预计20-30万元左右。即便妻子在职，家里仍有就读幼儿园的孩子，造成生活困难。
Due to the diagnosis of liver tumor, he has been hospitalized for many times so far, and has spent a huge amount of medical expenses of nearly 5,000 yuan per month, causing difficulties in life.
由于查出肝脏肿瘤至今已多次住院治疗，每月花费将近5000元的巨额医疗费造成生活困难。
Students in Difficulty Families 困难学生
Due to family reasons and academic pressure, this student was diagnosed with major depression in August 2021. The mother suffered from uremia for many years and needed blood dialysis 3 times a week. The father was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2021, and his heart was stented last year. The medical expenses for the family of three were huge, making life difficult.
本学生因家庭原因以及学业压力于2021年8月确诊患有重度抑郁症，母亲身患尿毒症多年，需每周血透3次；父亲2021年确诊皮肤癌，去年心脏又装了支架，一家三口医疗费用支出巨大，造成生活困难。
The children of the twin family live with their father due to their parents’ divorce. Now they are studying in the sophomore year of university, but their father suffers from lung disease and is unemployed with no labor income. Therefore, they only rely on the monthly minimum living allowance for daily expenses, medical expenses and tuition fees, causing them with difficulty in family finances.
双胞胎家庭子女因父母离异随父亲生活，现就读大学二年级但因父亲患有肺部疾病，为无业人员，无劳动收入，家庭日常开销、医疗支出、学费等仅靠每月最低生活保障金，家庭经济十分困难。
These are just some examples of these underprivileged families in Hongqiao community and your generous support will enable the families and students like above mentioned receive support and partially alleviate their hardships. Seeing the needs to be fulfilled, we are calling out for corporate and individual sponsors to support this event with a meaningful cause.
