1103 – Acting on God’s Word

2 Kings 5:1-15 Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper. … And he returned to the man of God, he and all his aides, and came and stood before him; and he said, “Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel; now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.”

Namaan, a successful commander, won many wars, held a high position in the army, lived in a beautiful house and the King had high regards for him but he was suffering from leprosy. Nothing was able to help him as there was no cure for leprosy for a long time until recently.
In the old testament, the anointing was upon the prophet, the king and the high priest, therefore the lady from Israel knew that Namaan would be able to find help through the man of God.

Namaan went to Elisha’s house and wanted to be healed of his leprosy. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”

Elisha did not even meet up with him but merely gave him the instruction to be healed because it is not the man of God who was going to heal him but God. What Elisha received from God, he instructed Naaman to do.

It was a simple instruction but Namaan couldn’t take it, he became offended and angry because he had his own expectancy and ideas as to how he should be healed. He refused to listen to the Word which was God’s will for him to be healed and all Namaan needed to do was to act on the Word.

Namaan was looking for something spectacular, difficult, complicated, going through a tedious process but he couldn’t accept a simple instruction to be healed which was actually what he wanted.

Don’t complicate matters if God has spoken to you simply, take His word for it, which is His will for you and act on it!

When Namaan went to dip in the river Jordan according to Elisha’s instruction, he was completely healed.

During our daily walk with God , there are many things that we would like to seek His opinion on. Remember through prayer, He will lead us and also speak to us.

Making God’s Word the final authority in our lives is believing what the Word says instead of believing people, satan or circumstances. It does not limit our lives but makes all things possible for us.
