0726 – How We Walk in God’s Will 如何行在神的旨意里

During these difficult COVID19 times, we may think we have good ideas to start a business, maybe a joint venture, purchase a franchise or even migrate to another country. However, it could be very frustrating or disheartening and humbling as we try all sorts of ways to get things off the ground by our own efforts when everything has slowed down. Many kinds of businesses and professions now are affected as it is hard to generate business or income for many industries.Oftentimes, we tend to have our own agendas and we expect God to bless and protect us from failure. We can pray and ask God to help us succeed in our plans, but He is not obliged to do this especially when we have not consulted Him before going ahead. We need to ask if our idea is a good idea or God’s idea. Remembering that He is the Lord of our lives, it is so important that we pursue, articulate, plan and execute God-inspired ideas. Not every idea is God-inspired, hence, it is important to consecrate our plan, idea and dream to Him. We do this by getting confirmation through Book, Chapter and Verse (BCV) in the Bible, including a witness of the Holy Spirit with godly counsel. Moreover, when God gives us an idea, a vision of what can be achieved may also be given which will motivate us to accomplish the goal that He sets before us. This is how we can know if it is God’s will for us to execute the idea.

I John 5:14-15 (NKJV) Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

We can then pray in faith and confidence since the Lord promises us that He hears our petitions that are asked according to His will. It is thus our responsibility to seek His will and plan for our lives and He will lead us in making decisions and necessary adjustments when we commit to hearing and obeying His word on our plan.

Luke 5:4-5 (NKJV) When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”

John 21:6 (NKJV) And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

Against his own judgement and experience the night before, Simon Peter listened and obeyed Jesus’ simple instructions and they reaped a huge reward. Some of us may struggle with such simple instructions that He gives us but sometimes God uses these simple instructions to grow our faith. We just have to listen and obey. Our faith grows deeper and stronger when we are aware that God has endorsed our ideas and plans, that we are walking in His will, listening to and obeying what He has called us to do.

Sermon Series: A Firm Footing
