But when he, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” ~ John 16:13

Today, fake news is not a new phenomenon. Especially through the recent pandemic, we have heard so many fake news flying all over. I have heard of fake news of bad guys impersonating as police or authority, spreading false information to scare innocent and later cheated of their money. I have read of fake reports on internet scamming as official websites of big household brands, universities and charities funding terrorism, resulting a collapse of their reputation. I have also heard of false quotes stating CEOs from top FMCG brands giving certain information, resulting their stock and share prices to plummet in a wink of minutes.  I have even heard of some really wicked ones spreading rumors of people dying or passed on, those were really terrible. Fake news play with people’s emotions, leaving people angry, scared, confused.

Very often fake news cost people precious time and effort as people need to verify the authenticity of the news before buying into the information. Hence fake news are literally exhaustive of people’s energy and worst still, it saps one into unnecessary fears and worries.

Have you ever been duped by fake news? We are from God. We walk in truth and light. We have the Holy Spirit to help us recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. Being in fellowship with God helps us discern from wrong teaching and false information. It takes our tuning in and alignment with the HS to hear godly teaching and walk in the right counsel, so that we do not fall into the prey of falsehood. Believers who truly walk with Christ are not immune to deception but because we have the HS as our Counsel and Guide, we can discern.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you Holy Spirit for being my counsel and guide. Help me continue to live victoriously in truth. In a world filled with deceptions, help me not get misled or conned into believing the fake news, but let me be sharp and sensitive to your Holy Spirit, that I may always be in your light and truth. Thank You Lord. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
